San Martino di Castrozza and the Dolomiti
The Dolomites: "The mountains that change colour at the sunset and fascinate mountain lovers from all over the world."
San Martino di Castrozza is there: lying between the peaks with the magnificent scenery of the Pale, from which its name comes, majestic and superb in front of the village.
The various events organized throughout the year highlight the changing Seasons. In winter skiing facilities, which are part of the "carousel" Superski Dolomiti, offer possibilities to everyone and for all ages.
In summer the hiking trails, climbing, mountain bike circuits and simple walks propose a contact with a nature which is still untouched. San Martino di Castrozza is part of the Paneveggio Natural Park. In the village there are shops, bars, pubs and restaurants, playgrounds for children, in addition of course to sky school, rental equipment and all that you may need.

A Fiera di Primiero there is a public indoor swimming pool with sauna, while for the tennis courts special agreements are available with other hotels.
The Group of Pale, including a wide plateau, consists of peaks representing the borderline, both historical and geographical, between the Veneto and the Tyrol. The variety of its peaks and the particular shape allow all sorts of excursions, ferrate like the Cimone one, or vie such as NE corner of Cima della Madonna which have been climbed since 1864 and are still very popular.
The tourist tradition of the country dates back to 1200 when it was a camp for travellers who crossed the Passo Rolle and stopped in the first touristic settlement of the time a hospice. But the origins are much older than this! The nine camps of hunters found near the Colbricon lakes bring us back to the prehistoric time.

The area surrounding San Martino di Castrozza is intact and often wild. Everyone can choose whether to walk along silent paths, in contact with uncontaminated nature or follow the most popular trails. This is because we are in the heart of Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park, rich in ecological rarities and fauna. To know it and to discover the "secret" of these mountains nothing is better than a stay in these places.
